Changes in the new model

Both the new models include a new sub frame that easily accommodates the saddlebags and an optional 47-liter top case both of them are originally along with the LT models but can be fitted on standard models as well.

  • The foot peg has been shifted a little to give the rider better comfort and easy gear shifts.

  • A larger windscreen with tool-less adjusters and completely updated styling and details gives the bike a sporty look.

  • The fully adjustable Showa SFF fork and KYB shock preload adjuster are another addition, along with the new braking system with Nissin calipers for front and rear300mm petal-style discs. The rear root is now a 2500 mm one.

    • The turbocharged 649cc parallel twin remains as it was in the earlier version. There are alterations to the exhaust and ECU and are now made out for a top-level performance. The engine and the handlebars are now supported by rubber pegs so as to remove cancel out any vibrations and are not at all felt by the rider.

The new HUD design for the bike is a state of the art design with its real time features. The hybrid analog/digital instrument pad is very easy to read for the rider even in bright sunlight. It offers some exciting new features such as fuel range and a unique ECO indicator that will tell you when you are riding like a madman and actually sucking the life out of your engine and other components. The seats are although not so great when it is considered in accordance with long highway rides. They are not supportive and are rather made a little softer. The squishy seats are a point of concern for the long route riders as they end up with a hurting butt.

Kawasaki designers have done a great job with the new attached saddlebags. Removing and installing them is a very easy thing. The saddle bags are locked with the same key that you use for the ignition and the top loading of the tank. There are some attached accessories that make this bike a perfect companion for the daily city riders. The heated grips are really comfy and really improve the overall handling of the bike. The additional DC power outlet will allow you to charge your smart phone on the go. The gear positions sensors are also there to help you in easy riding and gear adjustment. The focal fog lights in the front are really helpful when riding under extreme conditions of fog or dust. The engine guards for the protection make it a full package deal.

There are no complaints about a few missing features here and there as the bike is aptly priced at $7,999 for the standard model and $8,699 for the LT version. Looking at the improvisations the Kawasaki engineers have done this new version of the Versys 650 is surely to make some noise on the roads.
