SBK: PSG-1 Kawasaki Make Good Testing Progress

The three man PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse squad ended the official SBK test in jubilant mood after making good progress developing their Kawasaki ZX-10Rs in preparation for next month's Valencia race. After promising results at the opening two rounds of the championship the team arrived with a range of new components to test, including a higher specification engine and improved electronics.

Spaniard Fonsi Nieto was once again the fastest of the Kawasaki men; with an impressive lap time on qualifying tyres that saw him end the test in seventh place, having set a 1m35.377 best. Chris Walker was equally pleased with his three days of work after making big improvements to his PSG-1 Kawasaki and he was rewarded with some impressive lap times on race tyres, to end the test 12th fastest. Hard charging Frenchman Regis Laconi also made big strides in adapting to the bike and worked hard throughout the test to find a much improved base setting on his PSG-1 Kawasaki to secure 17th spot.

FONSI NIETO: 7th position, Best Lap 1m 35.377
"I am happy because we have been able to try a lot of things with the bike and I also managed to make a long run on race tyres and my times were not bad. I did 25 laps and my rhythm was in the low '37s, which is good. My qualifying lap was OK but it could have been even better as I made a mistake and was also held up by another rider. Seventh position is OK and I have learned a lot, so I am happy."

CHRIS WALKER: 12th position, Best lap 1m 35.758
"We've had a lot to test and we've got through pretty much everything. It's been really good and I've gone faster on both qualifying and race tyres than I did last year - but we've still ended up down in 12th place so we've got work to do. My times on race tyres are very similar to both Fonsi and Regis, which is good and it means that we're now able to really work together as a team to improve the bike."

REGIS LACONI: 17th position, Best lap 1m 35.954
"We have worked a lot on the bike and now we can play on the bike, because it gives me the feeling that I really need. We have tested new electronics, and with the rear suspension, and it feels better. You have to be happy to ride. I did put in a qualifying tyre, twice in the morning session, but both times there was a red flag. I did good times on race tyres, and everyone in the team is starting to understand each other a lot more."

Superstock 1000 FIM Cup

Dennis Sacchetti (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse) scored 13th place on the three day testing classification at Valencia, working hard to control front-end push around this twisty Spanish track. He was bowled over by the speed of his machine in race trim.

DENNIS SACCHETTI: 13th position, Best lap time 1m 35.758
"The only problem is when making fast turns, when the front end of the bike pushes a lot, and it becomes difficult to go any faster. The engine feels very good but when you open the throttle it wants to wheelie all the time."
