EICMA: New Moto Guzzi GRISO 8V and C
940
At the 64th International Motorcycle Show in Milan, Moto Guzzi
amazes the public with its sporty Griso 8V and with its Custom
Drago 940. Two new models that are proof of the technological
and style evolution that has taken place under the trademark
of the eagle.

The second stage of Moto Guzzi's relaunch on the market begins
at the 64th EICMA Show. This is the company's eighty-fifth year
and will be one of the brightest in its important history.

In 2006, the Mandello-based company launched an all-round attack,
renewing and extending its range, first with the feisty 850 Breva
and Griso and the instant classic California Vintage and, during
the second half of the year, with its "Gran Turismo"
Norge and the powerful 1200 Sport. With these models, Moto Guzzi
is preparing to end the season with a new record for annual production;
a record that has stood since 1983. This season has seen new
successes in competitions with the win in the Battle of twins
in Daytona and the winning of the national title in the Supertwins
category.
Moto Guzzi will present two new
models at the Milan Show that represent the company's new direction
in both technical content and style. The Griso 8V and the 940
CUSTOM.
The first is an evolution of the "fashion naked" Griso
and introduces a completely new engine that will provide top
performance for its category. The new beating heart of this bike
is a powerful 90 degree transverse twin cylinder 1200 cc engine
with a single overhead cam and four valves per cylinder.
The new motor's fiery nature puts out over 110 CV and torque
of 11 kgm. It can also be heard in the note of the new two-into-one
exhaust system connected to a double chamber asymmetrical silencer.
The Griso 8V has been given a sober personalised look that includes
stylish details like the fly screen, the new saddle and streamlined
side panels along with its state-of-the-art technical components.
These include the new Brembo brake system with P4/34 radial calipers
that act on floating 320 mm wave discs.
Sitting astride the bike, the rider can immediately sense the
sports riding position that the new setup between handlebars,
saddle and footpegs provides. These are all new components and
were specially designed to make the rider feel completely in
control.
The Griso 8V which will be sold alongside "sister bikes"
with smaller engines, will be available from May 2007 in two
colours: Moto Guzzi Red or Black.
With its 940 Custom, Moto Guzzi has traced a new path in the
Custom segment, with a sports feel that expresses the concepts
of individuality and freedom with class and elegance. The low,
long seat on the bike conjures up memories of the Yankee "street"
bikes. However, it has an undeniable Italian character that combines
Moto Guzzi tradition with an original and truly unique style.
Other details like spoked wheels, chrome decorations on the tank
and the retro styled instrumentation all convey a sense of elegance
and beauty that go so well with the otherwise muscular design.
The bike seems to be glued to the road, with its flowing lines
that continue along the length of the bike and merge at the back
in a downwards fashion. The sheer sense of style is emphasised
in technical details on the 940 CUSTOM like the patented reactive
shaft drive system, the large back tyre and especially the aggressive
dual overlapping exhaust pipe. The silencer tunes the roar generated
by the 940 cc engine. This new engine size was created to obtain
maximum torque at even the lowest of engine speeds. The 940 CUSTOM
is technologically advanced, although it belongs to the great
tradition of Moto Guzzi bikes in the custom sector. It will be
available from May 2007 with a specific line of accessories that
can meet the needs and desires of the most demanding motorcyclists.

In addition to the new Griso 8V and the 940 CUSTOM, Moto Guzzi
will also present a single version of the Norge 850. Also new
this year will be the Breva 850 ABS version. The 2007 version
of the "naked" tourer has new electrical switchgear
and a more luxurious saddle covering. There will be new colour
schemes available in the Griso range. The 850 will be available
in yellow on a black frame while the 1100 will be available in
a new satinised orange with a silver frame. These are in addition
to the classic black and red colours already available.

There will be a range of carbon fibre accessories for both bikes,
with a lighter, improved performance aggressive street legal
exhaust that can replace the standard one. There will be new
touches to the California Classic too with an elegant burgundy
colour and a new black and silver colour scheme will grace the
Breva 750.

Rubber Magazine will bring you more information on each of Moto
Guzzi's new models as it becomes available!
